How to write capital E
- Start near the top line with a small curve to the left, then draw the upper bowl down to the midline.
- Make a small loop at the midline and draw the larger lower bowl down to the baseline.
- Finish with a short upward tail that joins the next letter.
How to write lowercase e
- Start at the baseline and rise in a small upstroke to the midline.
- Loop over to the left and come down to the baseline.
- Exit with a short upstroke to the right.
Common mistakes
- A common slip is pinching the loop of e shut, which turns it into an undotted i.
- With the capital, learners stop the final stroke short instead of carrying it into the next letter; the tail of E is the join.
Joining e to other letters
The e exits from the baseline with a short upstroke that becomes the entry stroke of the next letter.
