How to write August in cursive

Start with the capital A: an oval like a large lowercase a, closed at the top, with a downstroke on its right side that ends in a short tail. Its tail runs straight into the u, so the pen stays down. The u is an upstroke to the midline, a trough down to the baseline and up again, then a downstroke; it runs from the baseline straight into the g. The g is an oval closed at the top, then a downstroke that loops below the baseline and returns to the line; it closes its lower loop at the baseline and rises straight into the u. The u is written as before; it runs from the baseline straight into the s. The s is a short upstroke to the midline, then a curve back down to the left that closes on the baseline; it runs from the baseline straight into the t. The t is a short upstroke and a downstroke back to the baseline, with its crossbar added later, and its exit stroke finishes the word.

When the word is finished, go back and cross the t. A common slip in August is leaving s open at the baseline, which turns it into a small r.
