Start with the capital S: a tall loop that rises to the top and curves back down into a rounded body, closing with a small loop on the baseline. The S does not join: lift the pen after it and start the a with its own entry stroke. The a is an oval closed at the top, then a downstroke on its right side that exits at the baseline; it runs from the baseline straight into the m. The m is three humps drawn from the baseline, each one retracing the last downstroke; it runs from the baseline straight into the u. The u is an upstroke to the midline, a trough down to the baseline and up again, then a downstroke; it runs from the baseline straight into the e. The e is a small loop drawn from the baseline up through the midline and back down; it runs from the baseline straight into the l. The l is a tall loop that returns to the baseline, and its exit stroke finishes the word.

Nothing is added after the word: there is no i, j, t or x to dot or cross. A common slip in Samuel is leaving s open at the baseline, which turns it into a small r.
