Superscript Generator

Superscript letters as copy-paste text. Alternate alphabets (bold, sans, monospace, fullwidth) drawn from the same Unicode blocks; not cursive, but they survive the same fields. 8 characters have no styled form.

What Superscript text is

Superscript looks like small letters set high, as in a footnote mark. Each letter is replaced by a different Unicode character from Superscripts and Subscripts and Latin-1 Supplement and others. 44 of the 52 letters have a styled form; C, F, Q, S, X, Y, Z, q stay plain because Unicode never encoded them. Digits are styled too. Because the characters are part of Unicode, they paste into any field that accepts text and keep their look without a font being installed; what they cannot do is be restyled by a font menu.

Where Superscript works

People paste Superscript into headings, usernames, bios and messages where formatting is not allowed but a different look is wanted. Bio and display-name fields keep it almost everywhere; username fields on Instagram, Roblox and Steam reject it. Screen readers announce the characters as mathematical letters, so use it for emphasis rather than for names people need to hear.

How to use Superscript

Type your text in the box; Superscript updates as you type, and the related styles at the foot of the page show the same text for comparison. Press Copy on the Superscript card, then paste into the app with a long press on a phone or Ctrl or Cmd and V on a desktop. Letters with no styled form stay plain in the output, so check a word that uses C, F, Q before you post it. If the app shows empty boxes, the device has no font for these characters; if the text reverts to plain letters on save, the field filters them, and a different style or an image from the font generator is the way round it.

Styled text uses symbol characters that screen readers announce as symbols.
