How to write capital H
- Start at the top line and pull the first tall downstroke to the baseline.
- Lift, return to the top and pull the second downstroke, curving in at the middle.
- Draw a small loop between the two stems at the midline and end with a tail to the right.
How to write lowercase h
- Start at the baseline and sweep up into a tall loop, coming back down to the baseline.
- Rise into a rounded hump at the midline and pull down to the baseline.
- Exit with a short upstroke to the right.
Common mistakes
- A common slip is starting the hump of h from the midline instead of the baseline, which leaves a gap at the foot of the letter.
- With the capital, learners stop the final stroke short instead of carrying it into the next letter; the tail of H is the join.
Joining h to other letters
The h exits from the baseline with a short upstroke that becomes the entry stroke of the next letter.
