How to write Evelyn in cursive

Start with the capital E: two rounded bowls stacked on the left side, drawn in one motion with a small loop where they meet. Its tail runs straight into the v, so the pen stays down. The v is an upstroke to the midline, a rounded trough, and an upstroke that ends in a short exit at the midline; it hands over to the e with a short bridge at the midline, so the e starts high instead of from the line. The e is a small loop drawn from the baseline up through the midline and back down; it runs from the baseline straight into the l. The l is a tall loop that returns to the baseline; it runs from the baseline straight into the y. The y is an upstroke to the midline, a trough, then a downstroke that loops below the baseline; it closes its lower loop at the baseline and rises straight into the n. The n is two humps drawn from the baseline, and its exit stroke finishes the word.

Nothing is added after the word: there is no i, j, t or x to dot or cross. A common slip in Evelyn is dropping the exit of v to the baseline, so the next letter starts too low and the pair reads as u.

Where Evelyn in cursive is used

A name in cursive goes on place cards, nursery art, a monogrammed gift, a cake topper or the signature line of a card. The PNG and SVG above are for those: the PNG drops into a card layout, the SVG scales for a cutting machine or a printer. The signature-style render suits an email footer or a card, and the tracing PDF is for a child learning to write Evelyn. The text styles are for a bio, a caption or a message, where an image cannot go.
