Start with the capital G: a tall loop that dips to the baseline and rises again, finishing with a rounded stroke at the midline. The G does not join: lift the pen after it and start the i with its own entry stroke. The i is a short upstroke to the midline and a downstroke back to the baseline; it runs from the baseline straight into the a. The a is an oval closed at the top, then a downstroke on its right side that exits at the baseline; it runs from the baseline straight into the n. The n is two humps drawn from the baseline, and the double n is written as one movement. The second n follows without a lift and runs from the baseline straight into the a. The a is written as before, and its exit stroke finishes the word.

When the word is finished, go back and dot the i. A common slip in Gianna is leaving the lower loop of g open, which makes it read as q or y.
