How to write Dad in cursive

Start with the capital D: a tall downstroke with a small loop at its foot, then a large bowl swung back up to the top. The D does not join: lift the pen after it and start the a with its own entry stroke. The a is an oval closed at the top, then a downstroke on its right side that exits at the baseline; it runs from the baseline straight into the d. The d is an oval closed at the top, then a tall stem on its right side that comes back down to the baseline, and its exit stroke finishes the word.

Nothing is added after the word: there is no i, j, t or x to dot or cross. A common slip in Dad is making the stem of d as short as its oval, which turns it into a.
