What Double-struck text is

Double-struck looks like outlined letters with a doubled vertical stroke, the blackboard bold of mathematics. Each letter is replaced by a different Unicode character from Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols and Letterlike Symbols. Every one of the 52 letters has a styled form, so nothing stays plain. Digits are styled too. Because the characters are part of Unicode, they paste into any field that accepts text and keep their look without a font being installed; what they cannot do is be restyled by a font menu.

Where Double-struck works

People paste Double-struck into gaming names, Discord names and comments where they want to stand out. Bios and display names on Discord, Roblox and Steam often keep it; Instagram usernames and most sign-up forms reject it; older phones show boxes for some of the characters. Screen readers read the enclosed or lookalike characters one at a time, so it is for decoration, not information.

How to use Double-struck

Type your text in the box; Double-struck updates as you type, and the related styles at the foot of the page show the same text for comparison. Press Copy on the Double-struck card, then paste into the app with a long press on a phone or Ctrl or Cmd and V on a desktop. If the app shows empty boxes, the device has no font for these characters; if the text reverts to plain letters on save, the field filters them, and a different style or an image from the font generator is the way round it.
